AM8 vs K688: check the whole setup.

Both offer USB and XLR connections. Compare the exact bundle: the base K688 listing has no stand, while AM8 has several stand and cable options. In XLR mode, budget for an interface and cable and check which controls still work. A more expensive bundle is not proof of better sound.

USB versus XLR: what does the whole kit cost?

Choose one AM8 or K688 in both connection modes to compare the same microphone. Enter separate bundle, mounting, cable, tax and delivery costs for each path. XLR also needs an interface or mixer. Mark an item as owned or included only when you checked it. The tool shows the difference and whether either complete total fits your budget, then saves both setups in one free text file.

No interface model is checked here, and switching to XLR does not establish better sound. If your current USB setup meets your needs, you may not need to buy anything.

Do you need to hear your voice directly?

AM8 and K688 provide voice monitoring in USB mode; the original MV6 also provides direct voice monitoring. Wave Neo's jack plays computer audio. It does not provide direct microphone monitoring.

Test your existing microphone first.

Record speech with filters bypassed, adjust distance and gain, then listen back. Capsule type alone does not guarantee noise rejection. These are documentation-based comparisons, not our listening tests. Cost totals use only the amounts you enter; retailer prices and availability are not fetched or verified.
