1. Four evidence labels
MEASURED
A browser or desktop tool observed a specific value, log line, media property or counter. We state the boundary of what that evidence can prove.
RULE-BASED
A documented rule maps evidence to a likely explanation or next test. It is a prioritization aid, not proof of root cause.
USER-REPORTED
A symptom, setup detail or outcome comes from the streamer. We do not present it as independently reproduced.
PLANNED
A capability is a target, research question or acceptance criterion. It is not available until the site explicitly says it is live.
2. Source hierarchy
For settings, compatibility and platform limits, we prefer current first-party documentation from OBS Project, Twitch, YouTube, Kick and hardware manufacturers. Community reports help us discover recurring language and failure patterns, but they do not override a platform specification or become proof that a fix works universally.
Each buyer-intent troubleshooting page links to a relevant primary source and displays its review date. Time-sensitive recommendations are phrased as starting points and should be verified against the linked current guidance.
3. How to use the troubleshooting guides
- A symptom specific enough that a streamer can recognize it.
- A short diagnostic matrix that separates plausible causes.
- Low-risk tests ordered before purchases or destructive changes.
- A rollback instruction when a setting changes.
- A boundary explaining what the test does not prove.
- A link to the free OBS log analyzer or research workflow when stronger evidence is needed.
4. Tool boundaries
The OBS Log Analyzer reads pasted text locally and applies transparent heuristics to available session evidence. It does not inspect the finished video, hear the mix or guarantee platform delivery. The browser speed test measures a browser-to-Cloudflare path, not a Twitch, YouTube or Kick ingest route. The bitrate calculator returns a conservative starting profile, not a universal perfect setting.
The Output Check desktop companion is private alpha software. There is no public download yet. Log Triage and Stream Audit are separate human review services; they do not require the desktop app.
5. Commercial independence
StreamerToolkits is independent of OBS Project and every platform or hardware brand named on the site. Gear recommendations start with reuse, compatibility and viewer-noticeable impact. An affiliate relationship never changes the diagnostic order or turns an optional purchase into a required fix.

6. Corrections and updates
We update a page when primary guidance changes, a rule produces misleading output, or new evidence changes the recommended test order. Substantive updates are noted in the page review date. To report an error, include the page URL, the statement in question and the best supporting source.
